Welcome!
Welcome to the Home Economics page of the K.A. website.
S1 & S2
All pupils in S1 & S2 are taught Home Economics 2 sessions per week.
The course is free standing as in some cases this will be the pupils total school experience of Home Economics, it does however form the foundation for St. Grade in S3/4 and Access3 Int1/2 hospitality.

Knowledge of the Scottish Diet Action Plan
Practical Food Preparation Skills
Work Evaluation
Safe and Hygienic Practices
Handling Information and extracting relevant information from a variety of sources
S3 & S4 St. Grade Home Economics
St. Grade H.E. provides a challenge for pupils of all abilities and should be seen as a stepping stone to further study either within dept. through Hospitality or Health and Food Technology or through study at college.
Course is based on National Guidelines.
S3 & S4 Access 3 & Int 1 S5/6 Int 2 Hospitality
These courses have a strong bias towards practical and creative activities. Courses and assessment procedures follow the N.Q. guidelines.
Survival Cookery
This course is aimed at S5/6 pupils who wish to improve their cookery skills in preparation for leaving school. Work is based around practical cookery sessions. An 'in house' certificate is awarded on successful completion of course.
