English - S1 Homework (Advanced) Adjectives

S1 English Homework. Exercise 9.

Adjectives

Copy the following note into your jotter and complete the exercise below.

An adjective is a word used to tell us more about a noun or pronoun. E.g. The beautiful girl. There are three forms of adjectives that you can use to describe a noun or pronoun.

Ordinary adjective:- She is young

Comparative adjective:- Lynne is younger than Paula.

Superlative adjective:- Susan is the youngest girl in the class.

If adding ‘er' and ‘est' would make the adjective sound awkward, we use '‘more' and ‘most'.

e.g.
1. That card is special.

2. This card is more special.

3. This one is the most special.

Some adjectives do not follow the above patterns.
