1. Welcome back (Mrs Ford)
Welcome back to the senior pupils now starting in S5 and S6. The next few weeks are a vital part of the curriculum therefore you should be starting on a serious note. Make sure you get off to a flying start in all subjects – working hard in class and completing homework.

2. Prizegiving (Mrs Ford)
The list of prize and certificate winners is now on display in school and on the website. Prize winners must report to the office for the funds to buy the book or books. An invitation to attend the prizegiving will be sent to all parents – Monday 16 June. Well done to everyone who has gained a certificate or prize.

3. Competition (Mrs Ford)
The BBC has launched a competition to find the best young speaker in Britain . If you are interested in this please see www.bbb.co.uk/speaker or email speaker@bbc.co.uk

4. Uniform (Mrs Ford)
There will be a check of uniform shortly. If you wear inappropriate clothes to school you may be sent home or to the behaviour unit. Shorts are not acceptable as school uniform. Skirt and trousers only are school uniform.

5. S3 Monitors (Mrs Hamilton)
Thank you to the monitors who coped with their duties during the SQA exams. They will return next session when the S5/6 have their prelims.

6. Prefects (Mrs Hamilton)
28 prefects have been appointed at the moment. They will start their duties on Tuesday 3 rd June. Pupils should follow their instructions at all times.

7. S6 (Mrs Hamilton)
Ayrshire Chamber are holding a competition starting in August. It gives pupils the chance to shadow a business manager and then compile a report on what they see. The report is then presented to judges and a winner is selected. It is a good opportunity for anyone interested in business. If you are interested, give your name to Mrs Hamilton

8. Work Experience for UCAS applicants (Mrs Hamilton)
If you are going into S6 and you intend to apply for college or university next session, you need to consider doing relevant work experience. This can be done during the summer or October holidays, although some term time work experience could be considered if it did not interfere with important class work. I can help you get a relevant placement, but sorting out the details will be up to you. If you would like me to assist you in this, see me as soon as possible.

9. Reading for Gold Scheme (Dr Neilson)
Congratulations to Brendan Stirling of 1W who has gained the Silver and Gold Award of the Reading for Gold Scheme. Well done!

10. The Reading Game (Dr Neilson)
Congratulations to Lauren Rodger of 2B1 who has gained the First level of the Reading Game.

11. Golf Cup (Mr Bryden)
The Golf Cup will be held on Friday 6 th June 2008 . There is a maximum of 12 places. Entries close at 3.45 pm on Wednesday 4 th June 2008 . See Mr Bryden for details and to sign up.

12. Joseph – School Show (Mr Robertson)
Rehearsals – Tuesday 3 rd , Wednesday 4 th June pm and Friday 6 th June all day.

Performances – Tuesday 10 th , Wednesday 11 th , and Thursday 12 th at 7.30 – Adults £5 – concessions £3.50. Tickets now on sale at Reception.

1. Parental questionnaires (Mrs Ford)
All S1,S2 and S3 pupils will shortly receive a questionnaire to take home for parents to complete. If you return this with your name on the envelope you have a chance of winning £25.

2. Show Racism the Red Card (Mrs Ford)
We had a winner in this national competition – Casey McDaid. All the winning entries are now on display at the football museum at Hampden and will be there until the end of August. You may want to visit the museum during this time.

3. Dance Summer Courses – Kilmarnock (Mrs Miller)
Application forms are available at PE for pupils interested in this summer activity. Places are limited and are on a “first come” basis. The weeks activities will include a wide range of dance styles. This course is free! Get you application form as soon as possible.

1. Day of Action on Litter (Mrs Ford)
On Tuesday 3 June there will be a national day of action on litter all across Scotland . There will be extra patrols of litter wardens and police to catch anyone dropping litter – you will be fined £50 if caught. You should never drop litter and you can be fined at anytime but on Tuesday 3 June you are more likely to be caught. You have been warned!

2. Prizegiving (Mrs Ford)
Anyone who received a cup or trophy last year is now asked to return it to the school office. The list of this year's prize and certificate winners will be on display shortly – excitement is mounting!

3. Holiday weekend (Mrs Ford)
The school is on holiday on Friday 23 and Monday 26 May. (Senior pupils with exams on these days obviously must attend.) Have a good break.

4. S1,2,3 Boys Championships (Mrs Hamilton)
High jump will take place on Wednesday morning. Competitors should report to Games Hall after registration with PE kit.

5. S1 Trip (Mr Kerr)
S1 Trip to the Falkirk Wheel –

Tuesday 27 th May classes first half of 1B (down to A Marshall), 1D and 1W

Wednesday 28 th May classes – second half of 1B, 1S and 1F.

Pupils should report to Metro at 9.05 am . Full school uniform, a packed lunch and a pen or pencil are required.

6. Chess Club (Mr McCormick)
The pupil's team achieved their best ever result for at least 15 years when they held the staff team to a 2-2 draw. Lewis Campbell and Kirsty McLauchlan both won their games.

7. Reading for Gold Scheme (Dr Neilson)
Congratulations to Eilidh McKenzie, 1D, Jamie Kerr, 1P5 and Sarah Mackin, 1W who gained the Silver Award of the Reading for Gold scheme. Well done!

1. Uniform (Mrs Ford)
All pupils in S1/S2/S3 must continue to wear school uniform. There will be spot checks to make sure this is the case. Thank you.

2. School prizegiving (Mrs Ford)
Winners of prizes and certificates will be announced in a week or so. Watch out for details and then follow the instructions about what to do.

3. S1,2 and 3 – Sports Championships (Mrs Hamilton)
The S1,2 and 3 Sports Championship heats will be held on Tuesday morning, the 20 th May at field. The high jump events will be held in school on the Tuesday/Wednesday afternoon. The finals of the championships will be held on Thursday morning (22 nd ) at the Highland Games being held at the field. S1 finalists will be at the field from early on and S2 and S3 finalists will be taken to field at P3. Everyone will be back at school by lunchtime.

Invitations to the Championships will be given to pupils who have been doing well in the athletics block and have shown willingness and enthusiasm.

4. S3 Monitors (Mrs Hamilton)
S3 Monitors - Monitors have been put in place to keep the prefects duties going. All the rules will carry on as before. I expect all pupils to treat the monitors with respect and consideration. They, in turn, will do likewise.

S5 into S6 prefects - Once checks have been completed, a list of 32 prefects plus a waiting list (in case of pupils changing their mind about returning to school etc) will be posted out. Details of groups and duties will be included and prefects will start their duties on 2 nd June when the new timetable begins. Blazers/badges will not be allocated until August .Prefects will be recognised by their school uniform and happy faces.

5. S1/S2/S3 Health Survey (Mr Howie)
Please return all parental consent forms by Friday 16 th May.

6. Career in Law (Mr Richardson)

7. LRC Summer Competition (Dr. Neilson)
Don't forget to enter the LRC Summer Competition which is a James Bond trail around the LRC. Prizes will be awarded and every participant receives something.

8. Reading for Gold Scheme (Dr. Neilson)
Congratulations to Andrew Fitzsimmons of 1P5 who has gained the Silver Award of the Reading for Gold scheme. Well done!

9. Highland Games – Tuesday 20 th May (Mr Kerr)
On Thursday 22 nd May all first year pupils will be attending this activity at the playing fields and will be out of classes all morning. All pupils should report to the games hall at 9.05 am with full PE kit and wet weather clothing. Full school uniform must be worn as the normal timetable will be followed in the afternoon. Books jotters for these classes must also be brought. Pupils not bringing PE kit will be returned to normal class by 9.15 am . These pupils should be given meaningful work.

1. S5/6 pupils (Mrs Ford)
Good luck to senior pupils whose exams begin next week. Remember that studying and completing past papers will make a significant improvement to results.

To pupils who will be leaving school immediately after the exams: best of luck for the future. If and when you make your first million, remember the school to which you owe it all.

2. S6 pupils – hello! (Mrs Ford)
Christopher Duthie has e-mailed to ask us to say hello to his former classesmates in S6. Chris now lives in Australia and is about to enter the Australian army.

3. School show - change of date (Mrs Ford)
The school show will now run on Tuesday 10, Wednesday 11 and Thursday 12 June.

4. S1/S2/S3 Health Survey (Mr Howie)

5. Reading for Gold Scheme (Dr. Neilson)
Congratulations to Bobby Stevenson of 1W and Sara-Jane Wilson of 1P5 who have gained the Bronze Award and to Demi Anderson, Ross Caddis, Stacie Taylor and Sara-Jane Wilson of 1P5 who have gained the Silver Award of the Reading for Gold scheme. Well done!

6. Summer Activities – Thursday 26 June (Mr Ramsay)
Opportunity to sign up for these activities has been extended until Friday 9 May. You can sign up from 1.10pm each day at the reception area with the Prefects. Payment must be made in full when you sign up.

1. S4 pupils – SQA exams (Mrs Ford)
Very best of luck to all S4 pupils who begin their exams on Thursday. We hope you do well. Take careful note of the information below from Mrs Hollywood.

2. SQA Examinations (A Hollywood )
The standard grade exams begin on Thursday 1 st May.

Your subject, level and seat number for each exam will be displayed on the window of L5 facing out to the playground.

You should bring a note of your candidate number, a pen, pencil, ruler and rubber to every exam and a calculator (when required).

Please note that the following must not be taken into the exam room:- mobile phone other electronic devices – iPod etc programmable calculator – anyone found with a programmable calculator will be disqualified from the exam.

If you have any concerns relating to the subject, level or seat number displayed see Mrs Hollywood immediately. Good luck.

3. Help with revision (Mrs Ford)

5. Work Experience (Mrs Hamilton)
Pupils who will be in S4 next session and have an interest in applying for work experience with Strathclyde Police should see Mrs Hamilton for an application for,. This work experience will not take place in September along with the rest but in March 2009. We have been successful in the past and pupils have enjoyed the week.

6. S3 Monitors (Mrs Hamilton)
The prefects go on study leave soon and it is proposed to appoint S3 pupils as monitors for 4 weeks to do the prefects duties when the senior school is on study leave. More details to follow.

7. L Floor Tuck Shop (Mrs Hamilton)
2 capable pupils required to serve in the tuck shop during study leave. Volunteers from S1,2 or 3 accepted. See Mrs Hamilton as soon as possible.

8. Are you interested in a career in Law? (Mrs Hamilton)
There is a careers event being held on Wednesday 28 th May 2008 at Dundee University . It is being run by the Education and Training department of the Law Society of Scotland. Pupils will be able to sign up for the activities all this week at lunchtime. Please see adverts on plasma screens and in the metro for more information. 

11. Malawi Visitors (Mr Ramsay)
On Wednesday 30 th April visitors from Mzuzu in Malawi will be in the school. They will be getting a tour around the school and be visiting classes in the afternoon. Please be on your best behaviour and make them feel welcome.

12. Proxy Servers (Mr Ramsay)
I have asked East Ayrshire to monitor the use of proxy servers for accessing inappropriate/unsuitable sites. If you are caught you will have your internet access removed. Please note access to social networking sites is not allowed.

Welcome back for the summer term. I hope you had a good holiday.

2. School bags (Mrs Ford)
A number if pupils appear not to be carrying a bag to school. You need this for your homework diary, jotters and equipment. In future you will lose credits if you do not have a bag.

3. Student awards agency (Mrs Ford)
All senior pupils leaving school to attend university or a higher education college may apply for financial support. The application forms and Guidance notes are now available from the school office. Also, see www.saas.gov.uk for online advice and applications.

4. Kilmarnock Churches Youth Project (Mrs Ford)
Last summer S1 and S2 pupils completed a survey on a proposed youth club in Kilmarnock . We have been informed that the club will be going ahead and have been asked to thank everyone who completed a questionnaire.

5. Mercy ships (Mrs Ford)
We have received thanks from Mrs Duncan for our donation to mercy ships. Mrs Duncan spoke to several classes about this charity in the Geography Department. Thank you Mrs Lyon for organising this.

6. Useful website for revision (Mrs Ford)
For S4,S5 and S6 pupils revising for exams, the site www.leckieandleckie.co.uk might be useful.

7. Good, Bad and Ugly Disco for S3,S4,S5 and S6 (Mrs Lightbown)
Tickets available in Art Gallery at lunchtime on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, Fancy dress prizes, food, good music and the ONE disco a year in the gallery space – not to be missed - £2.50.

9. Tennis Club (Mrs J Miller)
The first meeting of the tennis club will be Thursday 24 April. Any pupil interested should meet at the PE department at 3.30pm .

10. Chess Club (Mr McCormick)
The remaining adjourned games in the Staff v Pupils match are scheduled to resume at 1.10pm on Thursday. Games in the school championship can be played on Wednesday or Thursday lunchtime for the rest of April. Pupils who wish to be considered for a first year team to play Belmont Academy Should see Mr McCormick as soon as possible.

2. S3 exams (Mrs Ford)
This is a reminder to S3 pupils that your exams begin when you return to school. Spend some time in the holidays revising.

3. PPP (Mr Ramsay)
Block 4 has now finished. Lists of those who have achieved an award will be displayed in register classes from Wednesday 2 nd April. Please remember that you must achieve 4 out of 5 awards to qualify for Summer Activities

4. Easter Activities – S1/2/3 - Friday 4 th April (Mr Ramsay)
Please report to the Assembly Hall immediately after break on Friday. All groups will be dismissed from there. Once the activity is finished you will be free to go directly for your lunch once instructed by the member of staff in charge

5. Non-uniform day – Friday 4 th April (Mr Ramsay)
£1 to participate in this. You will be issued with a sticker once you have paid. Please display this appropriately. A donation will be made to the Malawi Appeal.

6. Easter Supported Study – S4/5/6 (Mr Ramsay)
All pupils attending supported study must enter and leave by the main door and must sign in and out of the building. Thank you for your cooperation.

7. Malawi Collection (Mr Ramsay)
Thank you to all pupils who contributed toward this. We will let you know what the money has been used for.

8. Thank you (Mrs Ford)
There are a number of things to thank pupils for this week.

•  Many thanks to the performers and organisers of last week's alternative Easter concert, especially to Amy Bromley and Rachel Tesfaye. It was a great night.

•  Thank you to everyone who helped with the P7 Open Evening. Parents were very impressed with the helpers in departments and the tour guides.

•  Thanks also to the performers in this week's Easter concert. It was excellent.

•  Many thanks to everyone who contributed to the Malawi appeal, either by bringing in materials, donating money or both. Your generosity is much appreciated and will make a difference to people's lives.

9. Lochgoilhead S1 Trip – 12-16 th May 2008 (Mr Richardson)
All pupils who are going on this trip note that there will be a short meeting after Registration on Wednesday 2 April 2008 .

10. S6 PSE – Thursday Period 2 (Mr Richardson)
Recently quite a few S6 pupils have not been attending this period. You are timetabled for this period and must attend. This is especially important when the school have arranged visiting speakers. Non-attendance reflects very badly on the school and staff concerned. The last talk will be on 3 rd April. A register will be taken. The topic is about Taking a Year in Industry before going on to University. The talk will now be in Mrs Stables room – G4 in the Old Academy .

11. Gallery Disco (S4xl Group)
The art department and S4xl group are jointly hosting a disco on the 24 th April 2008 . The theme of the disco is ‘The Good, The Bad and The Ugly'. Come in fancy dress. Prizes to the best in each category! A non-alcoholic cocktail bar will be available on the night. Tickets will be on sale for a cost of £2.50 on 22 nd , 23 rd and 24 th of April in the Art Gallery . Be there or be square!!!!!

12. Chess (Mr McCormick)
The school championship games will be the priority on Wednesday and Thursday lunchtime meeting during April except on Thursday 3 rd April the rescheduled date for the staff –v- pupils match.

13. Easter Egg Trail (Dr. Neilson) Congratulations to the winners of the LRC's Easter Egg Trail, Ryan McCulloch 1B, Nicole Campbell 1S, Katie Fenwick and Eilidh McKenzie of 1D. They all win a large Easter egg with small eggs for all the participants. Well done!

14. The Reading Game (J. Neilson)
Congratulations to Shaun McClymont of 2B1 who has reached the First Level of The Reading Game. Well done!

15. S1 Health Day Quiz Winner (Mr Howie)
Congratulations to Dylan McPike, 1D who answered all 6 questions correctly. He will receive a £10 WH Smith voucher.

16. S4 SQA Meeting (Mrs Hollywood)
There will be a short SQA meeting for all S4 pupils on Wednesday 2 nd April at the beginning of period 2. Teachers should escort pupils to the hall as promptly as possible for the issue of exam timetables and information on how to register for e-mail/text results.

17. S2/S3 Geography Trip (Lochranza) – 19 th -21 st May (Mrs Lyon)
Any pupils who plans to go on this trip must return their form and deposit by Thursday to Mrs Lyon (H2). Failure to do so will mean their place is lost of the trip will be cancelled. Thank you.

2.  CARING group (Mrs Ford)
For those involved in this, the next meeting is at 10.15am on Friday 28 March in the Carers Cottage.

3.  Auditions for “Joseph” (Mr Robertson)
Auditions for “Joseph” continue at lunchtime on Wednesday. ALL who wish a part in the show, major or minor, should report to EL1 no later than 1pm . This is your LAST chance.

4.  Choir for “Joseph” (Mr Robertson)
Choir for “Joseph” will rehearse at 3.30pm on Thursday in EL1. ALL who wish to participate in the show must attend or see Mrs Auld or Mr Robertson beforehand if unable to attend.

5.  Jazz Band (Mr Robertson)
Jazz Band is ON for Wednesday at 3.30pm in EL1

6.  Easter Concert (Mr Robertson)
The Easter Concert is on Tuesday 1 st April at 7.30pm . Tickets are now available from Music department or Reception priced £3 and £2 concession.

10. Easter Supported Study – S4/5/6 (Mr Ramsay)
The timetable for this is now finalised. Please check when you should be attending in order to maximise your chances for the forthcoming SQA exams. You are required to sign in and out at reception when attending Easter Study. A folder will be placed at the reception for this.

11. Malawi Competition (Mr Ramsay)
Please put your completed forms into the box which is located in the reception. Prizes will be awarded during Assemblies on Thursday 3 rd April.

12. Personal Property in PE – All Pupils (Mr Ramsay)
Please place all your valuables in the box provided by your PE teacher. If you have a number of items, you could put all items into a plastic pouch clearly marked with your name. This would assist us in keeping your valuables safe. It is not advisable to leave any items of value in your pockets or bag whilst participating in activities, even if you believe they are hidden.

13. Collection for Malawi (Mr Ramsay)
The Pupil Council will uplift a collection for Malawi during period 1 on Tuesday 1 st April. Please give generously as all money raised will be used to purchase materials which are greatly needed (Mark your diary now!)

1. Holiday weekend (Mrs Ford)
The school is closed on Friday 21 March and Monday 24 March for the Easter weekend. Have a good weekend and don't overdo the chocolate eggs.

2. S6 pupils – USA summer institute (Mrs Ford)
Any S6 pupil interested in the possibility of a cultural exchange programme to the United States should look at www.fulbright.co.uk

3. School Show (Mr Robertson)
School show auditions will take place on Thursday 20 th March at lunchtime in EA1. All who are auditioning for Joseph, Pharoah, Reuben and the 3 narrators should report no later than 1 pm . Auditions for Brothers and other supporting parts will be held next week.

4. Tesco computers for schools – (Mrs Snodgrass)
We are now collecting tesco computers for schools vouchers – these are given out for every £10 spent in Tesco over the next few weeks.

If you receive any of these it would be great if you could donate them to the box at reception – or give them to your register teacher to send up with the register.

Last year we collected over 2000 vouchers so keep collecting!!! Also old mobile phones and used ink cartridges can be exchanged for vouchers so donations of these would be greatly appreciated also. Thanks!!

5. Chess (Mr McCormick)
The school championship is now underway and Wednesday 19 th is the last date on which entries are being accepted.

6. No Smoking Quiz (Mr Howie)
Congratulations to all pupils in 1F and 1D who were winners in our No-smoking quiz. All winners will receive a £5 WH Smith voucher.

7. Let us entertain you! (Mrs Hogg )
On Thursday 27th March, there will be a concert featuring the talents of pupils in the school. This will be to raise funds for the Yearbook and the Music department.

8. Easter Activities – S1/2/3 only on Friday 4 th April (Mr Ramsay)
Pupils will be able to sign up for the activities on Wednesday and Thursday at lunchtime in the Assembly Hall and also next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. You will be required to pay for the activity at this time. If you do not qualify for an award when the PPP block ends next week your money will be refunded.

1.  Stranger danger (Mrs Ford)
A reminder to all pupils to be wary of strangers who approach them and never to go in a car with someone you do not know, whatever story you are told. If you see someone acting suspiciously around children you should report this to your parents, a teacher or the police.

2.  Pupil car park (Mrs Ford)
Pupils cannot park in the school car park of playground. This is a health and safety issue as pupils do not have adequate driving experience to park in a school playground. If you park on school premises you will be in very serious trouble.

3.  Jobs Fair 2008 – Tuesday 18 th March – Magnum Centre (Mr Richardson)
All S4,S5,S6 who intend to leave school this year and plan to go into employment, training or further education (ie not University ) are invited to attend. Various employers and colleges of education will be present. A bus will be leaving the school at 10.20 am on Tuesday 18 th March and returning at 12.30 pm . Those interested should give their names to Mr Richardson or Register Teacher as soon as possible as numbers may be limited.

4.  Industrial Awareness Day (Mrs Hamilton)
S3 pupils took part in the Industrial Awareness Day last week. The vast majority enjoyed the day and learned about industry. The advisers were very positive about the behaviour and attitude of the pupils in their groups. If this applies to you – well done!

Congratulations to Ryan McCulloch of 1P1 who won the Pupil's World Book Day competition. He received a £10 book token. The Second Round of the EA Readers' Cup has taken place. Congratulations to 1P3 and to 2W, the winning teams for each year. Each member of the team received a £5 book token. All the team members received a goodie bag.

7. Chess Club (Mr McCormick)
The School Championship will be played over the remaining Wednesday and Thursday lunchtimes in March except Thursday 27th the date of the Staff v Pupils match.

The British Land competition ended with Lewis Campbell finishing first with 20/21 just ahead of Rian Hood on 19/21 with Sean Porteus 3rd on 17/21. They, along with age group winners, Steven Blair, Liam van Loggerenberg, Kirsty McLaughlan, Emma McMurray and Ross Caddis, all qualify for the next round at Eastwood Academy on 26th April. Well done all!

Congratulations to our A team who were placed second in the Ayrshire Chess Association Junior League and particularly Rian Hood with a 100% record and Kirsty McLauchlan with 70%, both over all 5 games. Other contributors who played some games were Sean Porteus, Liam van Loggerenberg, Emma McMurray, Jamie McIvor and Roy Smith. The B team of Emma McMurray, Jamie McIver, Roy Smith and Blane Currie finished acreditable 10th out of 13

2. Snowballs (Mrs Ford)
The snow has now gone but if it comes back remember that you cannot throw snowballs in the school playground or near the school. This is a warning and reminder . If you are seen throwing a snowball you will be in very serious trouble – the CCTV cameras will be recording and checked.

3. Congratulations (Mrs Ford)
Very well done to Casey McDaid who has won the national Show Racism the Red Card poetry competition. She has won £750 for the school and now goes forward to the overall competition at Hamden later this month. Congratulations to Casey.

S6 pupils are organising a Media Sale in A9 during the lunchtime of World Book Day, Thursday the 6 th of March. Please bring along items – books, comics, magazines, videos, DVDs, etc to the LRC and support the sale. The pupils are raising money for LRC funds.

Pupils should only use this door as an emergency fire exit not as a way in and out of school. The door will be monitored and if you are caught exiting this way, you will be in trouble.

Pupils should not be in this area during break and lunchtimes. Pupils caught here will be put on detention.

5. Forensic Science Workshops Friday 29th Feb - Assembly Hall (Mr Ramsay)
session 1 = 9.30-10.45 - classes 3D2, 3S2 & 3F apart from those pupils who are not participating.
session 2 = 11.20-12.35 - classes 3B, 3D1, 3S1 & 3W apart from those pupils who are not participating.
For session 1 pupils will go to classes before being released at 9.25 to come to the hall.  
For session 2 pupils should report directly to the hall after the morning interval.
Pupils who are not involved will attend their regular class – teachers know the names of those pupils who have been withdrawn from the event. Apologies for any inconvenience.

6. Joseph (Music Department)
Rehearsals for the summer production are now underway. We anticipate building on last years' success and everyone who was involved thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Whether you're a stalwart of the Music Department or you've never been involved come along and join us on Thursday's after school in the Music Department.

The painting of A and B floors should begin on Wednesday 20 th February. The painting will be done in sections and pupils should obey all instructions from staff and painters. Pupils should only enter A or B floors when they have a class on these floors.

Any pupils in S5/6 who are interested in a career in Law note that there will be two half day events in Dundee and Edinburgh University respectively in March 2008. If interested in attending to receive up-to-date advice on LLB degree see Mr Richardson.

We have received a thank you certificate for our donation of £1057. It is on display in the entrance foyer.

3.  Caring Group (Mrs Ford)

4.  S4,5,6 Burns Supper and Ceilidh – Thursday 24 th January – 6.30 – 11 (Mrs Dunsmuir)
Things are hotting up for one of the biggest nights on the KA calendar! Tickets priced £7 , cover a 3 course supper and dancing to a live ceilidh band. This is an all ticket event – you cannot simply turn up at the door. So – names and money please today to Mrs Dunsmuir or Miss Templeton.

5.  Holocaust Memorial Day (Dr Neilson/Miss Purdie)
This year the Holocaust Memorial Day will be commemorated on Friday the 25 th of January at 1.15 pm in the LRC. All senior pupils are invited to attend a short candle-lit service of remembrance.

6.  S4,5,6 Summer Leavers (Mr Richardson)
All pupils planning to leave in Summer 2008 note that their will be the usual Jobs Fair by Careers Scotland at the Magnum in Irvine on Tuesday 18 th March. A bus will be leaving from the school on that day. If interested in going please give names to your Guidance Teacher or Mr Richardson.

7.  The Glass Menagerie Theatre Trip (Mrs Thomson)
Thank you to all pupils involved in last weeks theatre trip. Your behaviour was excellent and you were a real credit to the school. Well done.

8.  Senior Pupils – Hot Jobs Exhibition 2008 (Mr Richardson)
Any senior pupils who will be leaving school in summer 2008 please note that the Hot Jobs Exhibition will be held in the Kelvin Hall Arena from the 21 st -23 rd February 2008 . If interested in attending see Mr Richardson for details.

9.  S1 Burns Enterprise Event – Tuesday 29 th January
The English department are organising an Enterprise event for all S1 pupils in the Assembly Hall for the duration of periods 1 and 2 on Tuesday 29 th January. It is in relation to the Robert Burns Alloway trip. Pester your English teacher for details and get your entrepreneurial brains in gear!

S5/6 pupils should be working hard now for prelim exams, including attending supported study. You know it makes sense!

3. Burns' Supper – Open to S4,S5 and S6 (Mrs Dunsmuir/Miss Templeton)
Tickets are now on sale for this year's Burns' Supper and Ceilidh. This will take place in the Assembly Hall next Thursday 24 th January starting at 6.30 pm . Tickets cost £7. This covers a three course supper and dancing to a live ceilidh band. Come along and be a part of Kilmarnock 's Burns Tradition.

All S6 please note that after 15 th January your new PSE period will be on a Thursday – Period 2 beginning 24 th January. Mrs Hogg's class should report to Mrs Thomson (English). Mr Campbell and Mrs McLintock's classes should report to Mrs Dunsmuir (English) on that period

10. Careers in Nursing or Midwifery (Mr Richardson)

1. Welcome back (Mrs Ford)
Happy New Year to all pupils. Hope you had a good holiday and Santa was kind to you.

2. Christmas parcels (Mrs Ford)
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the parcels and to the Prince's Trust xl club members who parcelled them up and delivered them. We have received a thank you card from the residents of Mill Court – on display in the entrance foyer.

3. Reminder (Mrs Ford)
Remember you cannot use a mobile phone, MP3 player, iPod or any other gadget in school, even the nice, new shiny one you got for Christmas. If you are seen with any electronic item inside school it will be confiscated until the end of the day. Use them only at intervals and lunchtime, outside the school building. Better still, don't bring them to school so you cannot lose or damage them.

4. Air Cadets (Mrs Ford)
The Air Cadets are looking for new members, male or female, aged 13 or 14. Many activities involved – flying, sports, projects, mountain biking… You can join by attending on Monday 4 February at 7.15 pm at Mews Lane , behind Dundonald Road or phone 01563 525787 or visit the website www.aircadets.org

5. S5/6 Supported study (Mrs Ford)
Supported study has already started in the run up to the prelim exams in February. Take full advantage of this support to your revision – it genuinely improves results.

6. Braeside Street (Mrs Ford)
We have had complaints about pupils annoying residents in the flats behind the school in Braeside Street . We have switched a CCTV camera to this area. If you are seen causing any problems at lunchtimes, intervals or any other time you will be in serious trouble.

7. S1 French Internet Club – Mrs Stables/Miss Irvine
Calling all Internautes! A quick reminder that Mrs Stables and Miss Irvine are still running the S1 French Internet club every Wednesday in G5 from 1.15pm . Come along and discover the many fun Modern Languages websites! All S1 pupils welcome.

8. Foreign Film Club – Miss Irvine & Mrs Stables
The next film showing for the Foreign Film Club will be on Monday 14 th January at 3.45pm in G4. The film chosen for this week is Les Choristes. Set in post-war France , Les Choristes tells the story of a music teacher who transforms the lives of the boys in his care by introducing them to the joys of music. This film is a PG Certificate, therefore, all pupils in the school from S1-S6 are welcome at this showing.

9. Chess (Mr McCormick)
The first round of the British Lang Chess Challenge will take place in Room C3 at 1.10 pm on Wednesday 23 rd January and remaining rounds on the next 6 Wednesdays. All entrancts qualify for a badge, most for a mascot, some for a victory flag and one for the trophy. Those wishing to enter please see Mr McCormick.

13. Final reminder – Ski Trip – February 2008 (Mr Bryden)
All monies and forms must be in by this Friday 11 th January. The total amount payable is £170 or £180 if you require to hire clothes. You should also have returned the forms giving your choice of activities, ability, level, height, shoe size and size of clothes to hire if required.

1. End of term arrangements (Mrs Ford)
School closes at 2.30 pm on Friday 21 December. Pupils returning in the afternoon should report directly to the Assembly Hall, not to period 5 classes.

2. Tuckshop on L Floor (Mrs Ford)
There will be no tuckshop on L floor on Wednesday this week because there are examinations in rooms L4 and L5. The Metro will be open as usual.

3. Christmas Ceilidhs (Mrs Hamilton)
The S2 ceilidh is at P5/6 on Thursday 20 th December. Pupils should register with their P5 teacher and come to the Assembly Hall ready to dance. Scottish dress should be worn. There is a prize for the best dressed boy and girl and there is a prize for the best boy/girl dancer. There will be free refreshments at the interval.

The S1 ceilidh is at P3/4 on Friday 21 st December. Older pupils who are prepared to dance are welcome to attend as long as they have their appropriate Triple P awards. Again Scottish dress should be worn and there will be prizes for the best dressed boy/girl dancer. There will be free refreshments at the interval for S1. Older pupils will have to pay.

Anyone who does not behave well or who refuses to dance will be sent back to normal classes.

4. Christmas Surprise (Dr Neilson)
Visit the LRC for the Christmas Surprise. Dare you risk it for a biscuit?
