The Dean Castle is a lovely historical castle with lots of character. It also comes with a country park with lots of trails for walking and a delightful café.

If you like shopping, then go to the Town Centre – the friendliest shopping town in the UK .

The Galleon Centre is a local leisure centre where you can swim, ice-skate and work out in style. After that you can chill out at the cool gastro pub.

The Dick Institute is a library and museum; it's a haven for learning! Read a book, buy a coffee, learn at the museum and have fun!

If you like bowling and go-carting the garage is the place to be. Hire shoes, hire carts, have a great time.

Some parks in Kilmarnock are The Howard Park and The Kay Park. They are good for sunny days.

If you like entertainment, then you should visit the Palace Theatre/Grand Hall, with exciting plays on every week, and at Christmas, a pantomime.

The Odeon has a wide variety of films that will suit everyone.

For any Kilmarnock football supporters, get tickets to Rugby Park , where Kilmarnock play weakly. (That was not a spelling mistake!)

Edinburgh Zoo is a fun and exciting place to visit with a good variety of animals and places to sit and have a picnic.

If you are looking for somewhere you can enjoy both of the above at the same time visit Blair Drummond where you can be in with the animals and enjoy the rides and play parks.

Escape is full of adventurous activities such as an Ariel course and mini golf. There is also an indoor snow slope where you can go skiing and snowboarding. There are lots of lovely restaurants where you can sit and relax while enjoying a great meal.

Loudoun Castle – Enjoy a fun day out with the family to this great theme park, it has rides, a farm park and even a circus! Great for the kids to enjoy a summer holiday. Only £16 a wrist band for unlimited rides.

Craig Tara Holiday Park – a caravan, tent and shalley site. Great for kids! Come and see Rory and Bradley and the gang. Has lots of entertainment including: swimming, rides, bungee jumping and rock climbing, entertainment bars, beach and amusements. Also heads of Ayr Farm Park is just five minutes away!

Galleon – keeping fit while in Kilmarnock ? Why not take a trip to the galleon where its has a fantastic swimming area and gym. Kids with you? Don't worry there is a cress at the galleon too! It has a great ice rink and bowling area too. Kids are bored? Every Friday there is a amusing swimming night called the Fun swim! It has lots of floats, water slides and a jungle run!

Culzean Castle – Get in the countryside and go for long trails at Culzean castle. In the castle there is lots of interesting features and activities for children and for all the family. Then take a stroll around the swan pond and stuff your face at the café serving a variety of food and cold and hot drinks.

Ayr Central – in Ayr central there is a variety of shops including debenhams for top designer brands and primark for top bargains! There is also a Costa coffee to pop in for a bite to eat and relax in style. An Hmv and a big river island store too. So if you want the latest style then Ayr Central is the place to go!

Glasgow Science Centre – Enjoy a family day out at this great science centre! Become a scientist for the day as you try out all the experiments and learn all the interesting stuff you need to know about science. Watch a 3D film with our new 3D glasses you get free when you enter! Also come in to our Science Centre shop and buy some cool gadgets and souvenirs to take home with you.

Dean Castle – Take a trip back to the olden days when you have a guided tour around the castle. Get a chance to try on some costumes and go to the cages and dens of the castle! Also after all that, go over to the farm park where you can feed the animals including Scott the horse. A newly built children's play area is there too.

Dean castle is a wonderful place to go nature walks and play park. It is a great day out for all the family and there is a great selection of animals to feed and look at. Galleon centre is also a fantastic place there are a whole range of activities there is: Swimming, Ice-skating, gym, creche where you can take a brake from your kids, Trampoline's etc.

Dick institute has got a interesting museum and a whole stack of books a kids section and an adults section there is an art gallery that changes every so often and then once you've done that follow the stairs to the museum in there they have a had a whole lot of things in so you could go and check what has changed!!. The palace theatre has loads of different shows on ever week and at Christmas they always do a pantomime that kids age 8-16 can audition for. They change the shows every year so that the pantomime doesn't get boring dance teachers also hold their dance shows there.

Grand hall is next to the palace theatre in there they do karate and orchestras play there also. A dance teacher called Fiona Watt holds her rehearsal for dancing there too. At the garage there is Go-karting , bowling , pub and party room (the studio) once you have done your activities go to the wimpy that is also in the garage. These places give you a great day out for all the family and you just need to travel there and then the great day out is giving to you !!!!

Loudoun Castle is a great place for a fun day out for the family. It has rides for every age group including toddlers, youngsters, teenagers and all the adults. It has a cheap entry fee; the fee is different for every age group and if you go you will have a great day out.

Lochgoilhead is great to get away for a good couple of days full of activities for all the family. You could go:

One of the best castles is Dean castle in Kilmarnock with its beautiful scenery and historic castle. There is an outside nature trail in the woods, also with some farm animals that you can clap and feed, but beware of the peacock that's on the loose!

1. If you are ever in east-Ayrshire you have to visit the Kilmarnock galleon with a wide variety of activities that you and the kids can enjoy E.G. Swimming, ice-skating, badminton, indoor-bowls and a gym.
