Good and Bad Things About Christmas

BAD
At Christmas there are a lot of good and bad things about it. One bad thing at Christmas is that a lot of houses get broken into. It is mostly because people know that there are going to be lots of new things, which people might want. It is one of the worst times in the year for the police because there are a lot of robberies which is hard for the police to deal with.

GOOD
One of the good things about Christmas is being with family and friends because they keep you company at Christmas. But even though it's a good thing, some families fall out at this time of year which can be upsetting.

One good thing about Christmas is that we get to stay off school and have fun with family and friends. This is good because if it snows you can build a snowman, have a snowball fight, go sleighing or stay inside and watch everyone else freeze to death as they play in the snow. Spending time with family and friends is good because it's a good excuse to dress up and go out.

One bad thing about Christmas is that people over do it with the Christmas lights. Some people get really competitive over decorating there house with lights. It's really bright when someone puts lights up on their house and the glare of them must be a bit off putting for drivers.

I think the good thing about Christmas is presents because when you get presents they keep you content and you're not always asking your mum and dad “What can I do?” or saying “I'm bored” and also if you wanted to help charity you could give them your old presents .

One good thing about Christmas is all of the lights and decorations that lots of people put on their houses. It is colourful and bright and lovely, it looks very "Christmasy" and it really puts you in the sprit of Christmas.

A good thing about Christmas is when your family come to visit. It is nice when they come because you might not have seen them for a long time. Then you get together to have your Christmas dinner. It's the time when you can hear how everyone is doing. When everyone is finished, you then open all the Christmas presents that they get you.

One good point about Christmas is swapping stuff with your friends. For instance, if I got a football top and already had the same one, and if my friend got two pairs of the same trainers we would swap stuff. This is a good point because it means the two of us have more and different stuff.

One bad thing about Christmas is when you get the cold or the flu because it brings you down in the joyous season. When everyone is out playing in the snow, you're stuck in bed in the house feeling miserable and everyone else is having lots of fun.

Christmas is the prettiest time of the year with all the decoration outside people's houses, and inside people's houses. If you go down into Kilmarnock town centre you will see some really nice decorations. Sometimes people go over the top with decorations and it is not nice. I think we really need them at this time of year, because it is dark and miserable.

House fires are caused by people leaving Christmas lights, cigarettes and candles lit and then these set alight curtains, beds, couches, Christmas trees and carpets. House fires ruin Christmas for the people in the house. They burn the presents and the house too.

One of the good things about Christmas is getting money because you can buy whatever you want to buy, like a new phone or a game. The phone I will buy will be the Samsung D900 and the game will be Fifa 2007, and with the left over money I would save it up till next Christmas and buy presents for my family!!

One of the bad things about Christmas is that people getting drunk can lead to arguments, violence, being nuisances at parties and drink driving - which causes a lot of deaths. People can have a drink at Christmas as long as they don't go over the top.

Food is good at Christmas because you sit down at the fire with your family. We have nice food like turkey, potatoes, chocolate and Christmas cake. It is good because you sit and watch the T.V. and eat selection boxes. Don't eat too much or you will get sick or get food poisoning.
